Audi With Inlet Manifold Flap Delete

Audi Inlet Manifold Flap Delete ECU Remap Nottinghamshire

What Do Inlet Flaps Do?

This Audi A6 was suffering inlet manifold or ‘flaps’ as it commonly referred to sticking which basically means that the motor that drives them burns out after a time and then throws the engine light (EML) on the dash, with this problem the engine doesn’t usually go into ‘limp’ mode but it’s annoying having the light on and obviously an MOT failure as well. So the inlet manifold on this engine (4 cylinder) has 8 ports or 2 for each cylinder, the ‘flaps’ control 1 port on each cylinder the idea behind this it to close at low revs and thus give more torque down low and as the engine picks up revs the ports then open to allow better top end power as well (best of both worlds) so because engines ‘carbon’ up (cheap supermarket fuel mainly to blame) the flaps that are only driven by a small electric motor (on these engines) then looses the strength to open and close them against the carbon build up.

Remap Flap Delete - Can It Be Done?

Simple fix for these that doesn’t really change the way the engine performs but basically we remap the flap motor out of the ECU so that the ECU no longer looks to open and close the motor, we also delete the P codes associated with the flaps thus remapping is a simple and cost effective cure to this annoying problem, the other way of course is to remove the whole of the inlet manifold and clean the entire lot so that the flaps can move freely, then buy a new motor! This method cost the owner £60 whereas taking it to a garage and having the work down would probably be another naught on the end. Find out what remapping your vehicle can do for you!
