Today in Nottingham, we tackled a couple of jobs, starting with the Jaguar XF 3.0 TDV6. Known for its standard power of 276hp, this vehicle has become synonymous with engine reliability issues—specifically, the troublesome engine that is also fitted to the Range Rover. Despite this car having less than 100,000 miles, it has endured the strain of three engine replacements already!
The challenge with this vehicle lies in its Bosch ECU, specifically the EDC17CP11, which presents difficulties for remapping through the OBD port. To effectively program this engine, removal of the ECU is essential. This intricate process ensures we can adequately address the issues without jeopardizing its performance. Fortunately, we have developed a solution to combat the infamous failure of the TDV6 crankshaft, which often leads to snapping cranks and big end bearing spins.
Our modification during the remap is designed to improve reliability and mitigate future engine issues. While the power increase may be modest, it typically results in a substantial 100Nm torque boost. After applying our ‘mod’, we remain optimistic about how the Jaguar XF performs moving forward. This essential approach highlights our commitment to providing trustworthy solutions that extend the longevity of these vehicles and protect the investment of our clients in Nottingham.
This Jaguar also suffered ‘as many do’ suspension problems with the warnings coming up on the dash mentioning the dynamic stability was not working and thus would not go into ‘sport’ mode or any mode for that. Fortunately our diagnostic machine from Autel is basically as good as genuine Land Rover / Jaguar JLR now.
Quickly diagnosed with a front ride height sensor problem, a new one fitted and then the suspension all recalibrated so the car could find it’s proper ride height again, air suspension on the rear but hydraulic on the front, everything was back to working condition without the need to go back to the dealer for the reset. Saving hundreds of pounds!
We also reset all the service interval messages as well, this being a new engine fitted and all fluids changed as per it needed this as well.
