So todays call out for mobile diagnostic work was this Astra H 1900 CDTI with 150hp as standard, someone had already played with the ECU on this making it harder to actually diagnose the problem, the EGR valve actually looked new but was throwing the vehicle into limp mode at any moment and not under certain circumstances, so after playing for over an hour trying to find the cause of the problem, we found a blanking plate under the EGR, remapped the whole lot out of the system and unplugged the EGR valve just to make sure nothing sinister was happening, the remap that was already installed was clearly done by a ‘dodgy’ company, boost set to 2.1 bar which if it actually hit that target would have blown the turbo to pieces! Let alone the engine and gearbox! I have arranged to go back another day and install our own Stg1 Remap to calm things down a little and bring the reliability back to where it should be!
