So today’s job was a Citroen Dispatch (Peugeot, Ford, Toyota) 1.6 Diesel, the owner having Adblue problems in Hucknall, Nottingham. He contacted us with concerns that the Adblue was at some point going to fail, it still had a range of 1500 miles but the Adblue light was on the dash even though the tank was full, we quoted our usual price to cure these problems and he booked us for today to come out via our mobile remapping service that we offer around Nottinghamshire, upon arrival we carried out a complete scan and reset the Adblue system, the same faults are always on all these van’s, everyone i have been out to has the same faults in the ECU, still ignoring that and re-initialising the Adblue system there was very little wrong with it, the tank was full! The system (more importantly) could ‘see’ the tank being full, it had just lost pressure and gone into ‘mad’ mode! So this being an 18 plate i just went into auto pilot mode, removed the ECU, started to pin into it and realised it was a Bosch EDC17C60 which i could have done through OBD! Oh well, i still went ahead and and did a full read in ‘Boot’ mode (just as easy) plus if there are any issues later on with the van i have a complete backup of the ECU and can then ‘clone’ a new one for him, i’ve kept every file from the last 25 years on a home built server so we now have over 750,000 files in storage ‘just in case’.
So a really fast read and write speed in boot mode on these ECU’s meant everything was back up and running within the hour, just as well for people that are self employed like this owner was, when your bread and butter is based around your van you need it to be reliable and that’s exactly what we have done!
