VW Passat PD140hp fitted with a GT1756 Turbo, these turbo’s are good for about 280hp with mods to support it, however this customer was happy with whatever he could push the standard motor fitted in the 140hp version, luckily Vag-Com can log most things in the VW range so we setup some crucial bits to record the data of and went for a drive to set a base for tuning!
I have to say i don’t usually take jobs on like this but J28 Remaps had turned him down flat already and he seemed a decent enough lad, so why not! Problem number 1 was the customer wanted everything! DPF delete, EGR delete, Flap delete, Launch control, Hard cut limiter, smoke map, deep idle, you name it and he wanted it! At this point will point out we don’t charge extra for any of this! So i started off with all the deletes and extras added in, then a basic tune over the top, see it it all worked first (lots of add on’s in one hit) she started up almost first time, bit of an iffy battery perhaps? But once up and running sounded fairly sweet, quick test to make sure everything was working, which it was so then a test (drive down the road) drive with a bit more logging to see what tops out where. First run was obvious we can push a little harder, 2nd run less so, 3rd run we had hit the limit of injectors! So the customer already happy with the results we left it with mod2 installed, an estimated 210-220hp 1.8bar boost AFR’s all within reason (until HC) and at a cost a fraction of anyone else could get near!
